Dan Hoyle

Dan has been working as a freelancer in outdoor activities since 2013 and has climbed and caved extensively around the UK and Europe.


He holds a First Class Honours Degree in Outdoor Activity Leadership and Coaching on top of various Mountain Training and Cave Leader awards including the Rock Climbing Development Instructor, Development Climbing Coach, Climbing Wall Development Instructor and Local Cave and Mine Leader award.


He has worked with many organisations including the British Mountaineering Council, and has coached people of all abilities in climbing, from first time beginners to GB Youth and GB Paraclimbers competing on an international standard.

Jamie Vardy

Jamie is a highly experienced coach and instructor. He holds a Masters Degree in Sport Science specialising in Sports Psychology, and is a member of the Association of Psychologists in Climbing alongside many other top sports psychologists around the world.


He is also a coach for the GB Paraclimbing Team and a GB Development Climbing Squad coach, and holds the Development Coach and Climbing Wall Development Instructor awards.


Jamie runs his own business, Apex Climbing Coaching, designing training programmes and delivering in person performance coaching for those wanting to improve their climbing and reach their climbing goals.

Charlie Mackie

Charlie has been climbing for over 17 years in many places around the world including Jordan and Norway and achieved grades up to 7c sport and E7 trad.


Since gaining a Degree in Outdoor Studies and Sports Science he has gained his Mountaineering and Climbing Instructor Award and delivers courses in multi-pitch climbing and sea cliff climbing amongst others.

Clare Freeman

Clare is a Development Climbing Coach, Hill and Moorland Walking Instructor and Climbing Wall Instructor and is recently achieved a Distinction Masters Degree in Sports Coaching at Leeds Beckett University.


She has experience working with a wide range of people in many different events and activities including Gold DofE, Olympic athletes and coaches, and even toddlers taking their first steps in sport and physical activity.

Ella Main

This is Ella. She has been climbing for 16 years and has been coaching for 7 years. She has coached a variety of people from international para climbers to people learning to beginner trad climbers including volunteer work at the Womens Trad Fest.

Ella is also a regular indoor route setter and is known for being adaptable, bubbly and outgoing and has helped many people widen their comfort zones and elevate their climbing skills.

Outside of climbing Ella enjoys outdoor swimming, knitting and pottery.

Andy Cornfield

Andy is a qualified and experienced Rock Climbing, Canoeing and Kayaking instructor who has been working in the outdoor industry since 2003.


From an early age Andy has travelled around the world seeking out adventures, climbing in some of the most spectacular locations such as Yosemite National Park, the French Alps, New Zealand, Thailand, Malaysia, Africa and the Himalayas.


With a National Diploma in Outdoor Sports and Recreation, Andy is a passionate climber, mountaineer and skier and aspires to become a qualified Mountaineering and Climbing Instructor and BASI Ski Guide.
